BASS IMPACT explores the theory that bass music has had a huge and lasting impact on popular culture worldwide. The compelling story takes you on a journey examining how, with its start in illegal raves and warehouses, pirate radio and bedroom producers, this underground genre became a multi-billion-dollar Grammy-winning industry with its presence felt in film scores, commercials, computer games, and most modern pop productions. We accompany the personal stories of Hatcha and Skream, the acknowledged creators of dubstep; and Skrillex - arguably its biggest star who transcended the genre and was instrumental in dance music taking a firm grip of the US and its explosion worldwide. With this backdrop, we delve into the wider story of how massive advances and innovations in technology, and ultimately the advent of the internet age lead to a shift in the habits of consumers and changed the music industry forever. It was in this moment of renaissance now documented in 'Bass Impact' that all these elements conspire to spark a revolution. With its roots in drum and bass, dubstep took the world by storm as the first musical genre to harness the globalization and democratization offered by the internet, to become a worldwide phenomenon seemingly overnight, but that of course is not the full story. What started from an underground music scene and voice of a disenfranchised youth evolved and matured, continually innovating and pioneering, whilst impacting and forever changing music, fashion, politics, and which can now be traced back in nearly all areas of pop culture today.
